RADFORD FALLS 7-0 AT DAVIDSON

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Radford dropped its first match of the season at Davidson, falling 7-0 to the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon.

After Davidson collected the doubles point, Radford battled in singles play. The only two sets the Highlanders won on the day came from Michiel Meekers in No. 4 singles and Robin Calais in No. 5 singles.

Meekers won the opening set 7-6, before falling 7-6 in set two to Axel Fries. Heading into a third set tiebreaker, Fries pulled out a 10-8 victory.

After dropping the opening set 6-3, Calais fought back with a 6-3 victory of his own to force a third set tiebreaker against David Hager. Hager pulled out the match with a 10-5 tiebreaker victory.

Radford will continue its weekend swing in the Carolinas on Sunday, taking on Wingate in a 1 p.m., match. Â
