HIGHLANDERS TAKE 4-3 WIN OVER UNC ASHEVILLE

RADFORD, Va. – Entering the day with only two home matches played, Radford picked up its first home win with a thrilling 4-3 victory over UNC Asheville for the Highlanders' third Big South win on the season.
"It feels great to get another conference win," said head coach Jessica Giuggioli. "Today took a lot of heart and mental toughness. We were able to push through it as a team."
Jeanine Acierto and Zoe Fraser opened the match with a 6-2 win in doubles, while the Bulldogs knotted the doubles with a win in the No. 1 spot.
Playing solid doubles all season long, Drousile Dzeubou and Lotti Meszaros came in clutch to seal the doubles point for the Highlanders as the tandem picked up a 7-6 (7-5) win in No. 2 play. With the win, the duo improves to 13-4 overall and 4-2 in league play.
Dzeubou continued her dominance in Big South play with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Kylee Shipley in No. 1 singles. The win moves the sophomore to 5-1 in league play.
Radford pushed the lead to 3-0 as Natalie Sayer followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Christin Louw in No. 3 singles. The senior is 4-2 in Big South play and 9-7 on the season.
UNC Asheville won the next two singles matches, cutting Radford's edge to 3-2.
Meszaros clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win in No. 2 singles, improving to 12-5 in singles action and 4-2 in Big South matches.
Radford returns to action on Tuesday, traveling to Harrisonburg, Va., for a matchup with James Madison at 3 p.m.
