WOMEN'S TENNIS NAMED ITA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

RADFORD, Va. – After another strong academic year, the Radford women's tennis program has once again been named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team while Jeanine Acierto, Tyler Blalock, Lotti Meszaros and Natalie Sayer have been named ITA Scholar-Athletes.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or greater. The Highlanders achieved a team GPA of 3.30 for the 2017-18 academic year, earning the honor in back-to-back years.

"It's great to see the team receive another ITA All-Academic award this year," said head coach Jessica Giuggioli. "We will continue to work hard and strive for excellence on and off the court."

For the second straight season and for the third time in program history (2006, 2017, 2018), the Radford women's tennis program had four student-athletes make the Scholar-Athlete list. Student-Athletes must be a varsity letter winner, have a GPA of 3.50 or great for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters to earn the award.

Boasting a 3.9 GPA as a Management and Marketing major, Natalie Sayer joins Taylor Newman (2012, 2014) as the only Highlanders to be named ITA Scholar-Athletes twice. Tyler Blalock also earned a 3.9 GPA in Criminal Justice and Psychology, Lotti Meszaros earned a 3.8 GPA in Business Management and Jeanine Acierto rounded out the extremely impressive group with a 3.5 GPA in Psychology.

"Natalie has done an excellent job in the classroom over the years and I am also very happy to see Jeanine, Tyler and Lotti getting off to a great start in their freshman year," Giuggioli continued. "This accomplishment clearly shows their commitment as student-athletes and I am proud of what they have achieved."
