
RADFORD STARTS SPRING BREAK TRIP WITH LOSS TO COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Alexandros Caldwell and Matko Varga picked up wins, but it wasn't enough as the Radford men's tennis team fell to College of Charleston, 5-2, on Tuesday afternoon at the CofC Tennis Courts at Patriot Points.

Yevhen Sirous and Rodrigo Magalhaes picked up a win in doubles play but College of Charleston took the final two sets for a 1-0 lead.

Pierre-Olivier Lassalle suffered the first loss on court 5 and Michiel Meekers suffered his first loss of the season on court 3. Â

With College of Charleston (11-2) boasting a 3-0 lead, Varga picked up a 7-5, 6-2 win on court 6. Then Sirous lost on court 1, which clinched the match 4-1 for the Cougars.

Caldwell made it a 4-2 match after he picked up a 7-5, 6-4 win on court 4, but Magalhaes lost the final match of the day on court 2.

The Highlanders will continue their spring break trip with another match at CofC Tennis Courts at Patriots Point against Lehigh on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
