
MEN’S TENNIS DROPS FIRST BIG SOUTH MATCH OF THE SEASON TO UNC ASHEVILLE

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Radford men's tennis team dropped its first Big South match of the season to UNC Asheville on Saturday in Asheville, N.C.
UNC Asheville has the No. 2 ranked doubles team in the nation, but the two of them were split up. The decision for the Bulldogs seemed to work as they swept the doubles matches to begin the afternoon.
Yevhen Sirous began singles play taking on one of the top doubles players in the nation in Henry Patten, but he lost 6-1, 6-2. That gave UNC Asheville a 2-0 lead. Radford had comeback victory on its mind as Alexandros Caldwell won on court 3, 6-2 and 7-5. The singles win gave Radford its first point of the afternoon.
Andres Silva lost in three sets on court 6 after taking the second set, 7-5. Then UNC Asheville clinched it with a win on court 2. The other top doubles player in the country Oli Nolan defeated Rodrigo Magalhaes, 6-5 and 7-5.
Matko Varga and Michiel Meekers each lost their matches, but they took their competition to a third set. The pair of late victories gave UNC Asheville a 6-1 victory.

Radford will have a quick turnaround and host Davidson on Sunday at 1 p.m., at the Radford Tenis Complex.
