LYNCHBURG, Va. – Four distance runners set personal records at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational this past weekend with Annsley Eckert and Rachel Millirons also updating their program-best times in the 3000-meter event.
FRIDAY
The opening evening of the meet saw two events for the Highlanders to compete in with the weight throw and distance medley relay. Madison Garaham would set a new season-best in the weight throw competition and that was all for the Highlanders on the first day of competition.
SATURDAY
On Saturday morning the Highlanders burst onto the scene with Emilie Miller picking back up right from where she left off last weekend by setting a season-best time of 8.68 seconds in the 60-meter hurdle to advance to the finals. Miller would later go on to finish sixth overall in the event.
Talasjah Weathersby also followed up her career-day with another lifetime best in the 60-meter dash preliminaries. MacKenzie Gardner was next up for the Highlanders and set a collegiate personal record in the mile event with a time of 5:24. Fellow distance runner Savannah Hoff also set her collegiate personal record in the 800-meter.
Eckert and Millirons also hit the track for the 3K event with both setting personal records. Eckert's time of 10:15 was a lifetime personal record and ranks her fourth all-time at Radford. Millirons's personal record of 10:07 was a seven second better than her previous time and is third fastest in program history.
Finishing out the weekend was the team of Chancey Gunnell, La'Tisha Chambers, Ryan Paine, and Karah Foster running a season best in the 4x400 event.
UP NEXT
Radford will have one last tune up before the Big South Championships as they will make a short trip to Blacksburg, Virginia for the Virginia Tech Invitational next weekend.
