HIGHLANDERS OPEN UP SPRING TENNISFEST WITH DOMINANT WIN

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The women's tennis program jumped out to a great start and held on to win in a 7-0 sweep in the first day of Spring Tennisfest Tuesday afternoon.

In doubles play the Highlanders quickly took a 1-0 lead thanks to the teams of Drousile Dzeubou and Tyler Blalock as well as Malin Falk and Alexis Cramer. Dzeubou and Blalock took their match on court one 6-1 while Falk and Cramer also moved with ease to win 6-3 on court two.

Moving on to singles play, Blalock kept up her strong play by being the first to finish in a 6-1, 6-3 victory on court four. Anastasia Belyaeva kept up her hot streak on court one with a 6-2, 6-2 win while Dzeubou was strong on court two with a 6-2, 6-1 win.

Katey Fruehauf won a shortened game on court six 6-4 while teammate Falk took care of business with a 6-2, 7-5, 10-3 win. Lastly was Cramer who finished the great day for the Highlanders with a 6-3, 6-0 win on court five.

Radford will continue play in Spring Tennisfest with a match against fellow commonwealth foe George Mason.
