RADFORD, Va. – After a pair of impressive showings at Marquette and Notre Dame, the Radford men's basketball team plays its first home games of the season when ODAC teams Bridgewater and Averett come to town this week.

SERIES HISTORY (BRIDGEWATER)
The Highlanders and Eagles were common opponents in the 1970's, going head-to-head seven times between 1975 and 1979. Radford is 8-1 all-time against the team from Bridgewater and is on an eight-game winning streak.
The most recent meeting between the two sides came on Nov. 12, 2019 when the Highlanders came out on top, 91-40. Carlik Jones dropped 20 points and seven assists for Radford while Chandler Murray scored 17 points for the Eagles.
SERIES HISTORY (AVERETT)
With last year's meeting cancelled due to COVID-related issues, this week's contest between Radford and Averett will be the first since 1977. These programs have faced each other four times before, with Radford going 4-0 throughout the 1970's.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Bridgewater comes into Monday's match-up with a 2-1 record, falling 64-59 at Marymount before beating Albright and Lancaster Bible. The Eagles also played an exhibition against fellow Big South school High Point, dropping the decision 100-61.
Finishing last season with a 10-16 record, BC was picked to finish 7
th in the 2022-23 ODAC Preseason Poll. Junior forward Alec Topper leads the team with 14 points and five rebounds per game, while Landon Hawes (11.7 points) and Shod Smith (10 points) add some scoring punch.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Averett came in two spots behind Bridgewater in the 2022-23 ODAC Preseason Poll, projecting the Cougars to finish 9
thin the Division III conference. AU had a strong 2021-22 campaign, going 17-12 overall and 11-3 in conference play, but lose leading scorer Corey Baldwin who is now a student assistant coach.
In their season opener against Pfeiffer, the Cougars lost 62-47 despite having three players score in double figures. They shot just 27.9% (19-68) as a team, including 5.6% (1-18) on three-pointers in a rough shooting performance.
HOMECOURT ADVANTAGE
Over the course of the last decade, the Highlanders have defended their home court in an incredible fashion. Radford is 95-40 while playing inside the Dedmon Center since the 2012-13, including an 8-4 record last season. This week's games will be a big step towards continuing that trend by adding an 11
th straight winning season at home.
