SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's contest will mark the first-ever meeting between the Radford and Army West Point men's basketball programs.
SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS
Now in its seventh season under head coach Jimmy Allen, Army is off to a 2-1 start to the season with wins over Keystone College and Siena, but also a tough loss to Stonehill College. As part of this weekend's MTE, Army and William & Mary will play each other on Saturday night.
The Black Knights went 15-16 overall and 9-9 in conference play last season, leading to their fifth-place projection in the 2022-23 Patriot League Preseason Poll. Junior guard Jalen Rucker was selected for the Preseason All-League Team to boot.
Rucker is averaging 15.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game thus far while Coleton Benson leads the team with 16.0 points on average. Chris Mann (15.3 points) and Ethan Roberts (14.7 points) give the Black Knights even more scoring punch on a high-octane offense.
SHUTDOWN DEFENSE
Coming off a record-breaking defensive performance against Averett, the Highlanders defense has proven that its athleticism and switchability will be a problem all season long. Through four games, Radford leads the Big South with just 59.5 points allowed per game, with the next-closest being Campbell at 67.5 points allowed per game.
CROWN JULES
Senior
Shaquan Jules had recorded just one double-double in his career at Radford – an 11-point, 14-rebound performance at Hampton last season. The big man has already produced two double-doubles this season, ranking him T-7th in the nation for double-doubles.
