Nagai Paces Highlanders In Round One of Rivertowne Invitational

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Senior Riko Nagai showed no signs of rust as she shot 2-over par to lead the Radford women's golf team in the first round of Charleston Southern's Rivertowne Invitational on Monday.

The second round was well underway before play was suspended due to darkness.

Tackling the Par 72, 6146-yard course in the first tournament of the spring, Nagai was extremely consistent throughout the day. She shot for par on 12 holes and recorded birdies on both the 6^th hole and 11^th hole.

Natalie Welsh and Jimenna Ramirez each posted an 80 (+8) on the day while Jayde Dudley shot 83 (+11) and Niki Batac rounded out the group with an 89 (+17).

Welsh, Ramirez, and Dudley did a great job avoiding any major setbacks across the first 18 holes and Batac earned the team's third birdie of the day on the 14^th hole.

As a team, the Highlanders sit in 11^th place in a challenging field of opposing schools.

The second round will resume on Tuesday, March 1 around 8:30 a.m. and then the third round will be played immediately after to wrap up the tournament. Live results will once against be available on birdiefire.com.
