NINETY SIX, S.C. – A trio of Highlanders shot in the 70's in the third round on Friday as the Radford women's golf team finished ninth at the 2022 Big South Championships.
Â
Radford's season comes to an end as only the top four teams advance to match play on Saturday. The Highlanders shot 316-315-318—949 (+30) as a team and were just a single stroke away from eighth place.
Â
In a fitting end to their senior seasons, co-captains Natalie Welsh and Riko Nagai ended the tournament tied for 29th at 19-over par.Â
Â
Nagai, whose college career also came to a close on Friday, hit the bottom of the cup for a team-leading three birdies en route to a 79 (+7) in the last round. Welsh, who will return for one more season of collegiate competition, birdied the fifth hole and shot 81 (+9) on the day.
Â
Jimenna Ramirez earned herself a second round in the 70's, shooting 77 in the first round and 79 in the third round to tie for 39th.
Â
Caleigh Street's debut season ended strong as she tied for 36th thanks to an 81 in the final round. The Jewell Ridge, Va. native was named Big South Freshman of the Week three times this year.
