CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Hannah Moran has been named Track Athlete of the Week by the Big South Conference for the second time on the season after another record-breaking day, this time at the Virginia Challenge.
Moran took more than a minute off of the previous school record in the 5,000m, finishing with a time of 15:54.32. The time was a personal record of over 30 seconds and made her the second fastest woman in Big South history in the event as well as just the second ever to break 16 minutes.
Moran took fifth overall in the event against a star studded field including winner Katelyn Touhy who ran the fastest time in the nation this season en route to breaking the meet and facility records on the day. Moran's time ranks her 23rd in the nation and 11th in the NCAA East Region.
This is the second time Moran has earned Athlete of the Week honors on the track. She previously gained the honor for her Big South record-setting performance in the 10,000m earlier this season. She was named Runner of the Week twice before being named Runner of the Year for the 2021 cross country season.
