LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Radford University women's track & field team closed out their action at Liberty this season with an impressive weekend at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational. The Highlanders pieced together a pair of successful days, highlighted by another strong outing from
Chloe Wellings who anchored the distance medley relay team to a win to highlight the team's penultimate regular season meet.
The team of
Sophie Magson,
Breauna Lane,
Kate McLearen and Wellings picked up a victory in the distance medley relay after posting a time of 12:02.58. Wellings ran her fastest mile ever (5:00.27) to secure the win and also posted the third-fastest 3,000-meter time in program history with a mark of 9:40.09.
Magson also recorded a historic performance in the 3,000-meter race. The freshman tallied a personal record, finishing the race with a final time of 9:57.87; she now sits at fourth all-time in program history.
Jaslyne Robinson is now tied for eighth all-time in the 60-meter hurdles after posting a time of 9.03 seconds. Fellow freshman
Dezmajia Carter also put her name in the program's record book thanks to a personal record long jump. She now owns the seventh-best mark of 5.40 meters.
In her first ever 800-meter race,
MacKenzie Gardner posted the sixth-fastest time in program history. The senior crossed the line with a time of 2:19.22.
Abby Seigel also etched her name into the archives. She is now ninth all-time in the 5,000-meter race after recording a personal-best time of 18:14.
The Highlanders closed out the competition with their second fastest 4x400-meter relay of the season. The team of
Julia Burkley,
Raichelle Cornelius,
Jordan Jackson and Robinson rounded out the top ten after posting a time of 3:57.89 as Burkley laid down a blistering split of 58.87 seconds.

UP NEXT
The team returns to action at the Virginia Tech Challenge next weekend. The cross-town meet will serve as the final tune-up before the Big South Conference Championships that will be held during the final weekend of February.
