Softball Falls in Opener at James Madison Tournament

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Radford softball program fell to St. Joseph's Friday afternoon 9-1 in their first game at their tournament at James Madison this weekend.
The game got off to a tough start for the Highlanders as the Hawks were able to plate seven runs in the first two innings for the early lead. In the fourth inning Radford was able to capitalize on a Hawks' miscue to score. After Laura Thompson reached second, Lexie Roberts followed her up with a single through the right side.
Emily Spingarn came in for relief for Radford tossing 2.1 innings and allowing just a pair of runs. That would be all for the Highlanders, however, as St. Joseph's would pull away for the 9-1 final in five innings.
UP NEXT
Radford will look to rebound tomorrow with a doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson and a rematch with St. Joseph's. Action is set to begin at 9 a.m. against Fairleigh Dickinson.
