Close Match Slips Away Late Against Gardner-Webb

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's tennis program came up just short in a close 4-3 final against Gardner-Webb Thursday afternoon despite somebody dominant wins in singles play on the top courts.
Heading into singles down 1-0 the Highlanders put on a mighty comeback. On the top three courts Demis Taramonlis, Aditya Balsekar and Dinos Raptis were all fantastic. Taramonlis made quick work of his opponent with a 6-1, 6-1 win to tie the match at one-all. Raptis gave Radford the lead with a 6-4, 6-4 win on court three. Balsekar extended that lead to 3-1 with another 6-4, 6-4 win on court two.
Up 3-1, the Runnin' Bulldogs stormed back taking the three remaining courts for the slim 4-3 defeat. With Balsekar and Tarmonlis' singles victories, the pair of Highlanders remain unbeaten in conference play with 3-0 records. Raptis moved to 2-1 this spring and 13-2 overall against Big South foes in his career.

The Highlanders will stick to the home courts for their next battle on Tuesday, March 28th against Charleston (W.Va.). The match tips at 1 p.m. and will be Senior Day for the Highlanders.
