Men’s Tennis Drops Season Opener at Liberty

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Radford men's tennis program dropped their season opener Sunday afternoon to a tough Liberty squad 7-0.
In doubles play, Liberty would take courts one and three for the early 1-0 advantage in the match. The duo of Robert Hagen and Filippo Marangoni were off to a good start in their first action of the spring and were up 4-3 before their match was left undecided.
In singles play, Liberty earned victories on courts three and six and a withdrawal on court five gave the Flames the 4-0 advantage and clinching of the match. Liberty would then go on to take courts one, two and four for the eventual 7-0 final.
Guilherme Severin was competitive in his debut on court one singles, dropping his first set by a close 6-4 margin. Evan Edwards made his Highlanders debut, competing on court four singles and court three doubles.
Radford will be in action again six days from now when they make another quick trip to Bristol, Tenn. to face ETSU on Saturday, January 27th.
