Vergine and Saporta Earn Huge Doubles Win at ETSU

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Radford men's tennis program made the quick trip south to Bristol, Tenn. Saturday afternoon and fell to a tough Buccaneers squad 6-1 despite an exciting ranked doubles victory by Manfredi Vergine and Tom Saporta.
The highlight of the match came in doubles play as the pairing of Vergine and Sporta picked up a huge win in their first match playing together. The duo defeated ETSU on court two 7-6(5) with the Buccaneer duo coming into the match ranked 55th in the country.
In singles play, Saporta continued his impressive debut with the Highlanders with another victory. This time in court two singles, Saporta came from behind for an impressive 6(2)-7, 6-4, 6-2 in his Highlander debut.
ETSU would take the doubles point and singles wins on court one, three, four, and five and a default on court six for the eventual 6-1 final.
Radford returns to action in a couple weeks when they travel to face in-state foe James Madison on February 11th.
