
Men’s Basketball’s winning streak snapped in hard-fought battle at Utah

SALT LAKE CITY – The Radford men's basketball program suffered a hard-fought, 81-63 setback against the Big 12's Utah inside the Huntsman Center on Saturday evening.
The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Highlanders that dated all the way back to November 25.
Radford took an early 3-2 lead less than two minutes into the contest and the Utes held a slight 6-5 edge before they ripped off a 16-2 run to take a 22-7 advantage with 12:19 left in the opening half.
Like they have all season, there was no quit in the Highlanders however, as after some more back-and-forth, Radford answered with a 12-1 run of its own to make it 27-24 with 6:51 remaining in the first.
The two sides would enter the locker room with Utah up 40-31.
The Highlanders would get as close as 57-46 with 10:21 left to play, after another 8-0 run, but it was all Utes from that point on as they closed out the 81-63 victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Jarvis Moss had another big game with his seventh double-digit scoring outing of the season. The standout from Concord, North Carolina finished tied for the game-best with 18 points. He was extremely efficient with a 7-of-13 mark from the field (.538) and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc (.571). Moss also added a team-high three assists to go with three rebounds.
- Brandon Maclin had another strong effort with 15 points, four boards, two helpers and one block. He also picked up three steals, which tied for the game high. It was his fourth game in double-digits in scoring so far this year.
- Josiah Harris and Truth Harris were next up with six points apiece, respectively. Josiah added a game-best nine rebounds and tied for the team-high with three rejections. Truth chipped in four boards, one assist and a swipe.
- Isaiah Gaines (three rebounds, three blocks, one steal), Xavier Foster (two boards) and TJ NeSmith all registered four points apiece.
- Jonas Sirtautas (two points) and Zion Walker (two points) rounded out the scoring attack.
- Radford posted 18 points off the bench. It was just the second time all season, and the first time in 11 games, that the Highlanders were not able to win the category. The last time it happened was all the way back in the season opener against Pittsburgh on November 4.
- Thirteen student-athletes checked into tonight's contest overall.
- Radford's only three losses on the year have all come against Power Four opponents.
NEXT UP
The Highlanders will conclude their trip out West with a showdown against Colorado State on Tuesday, December 17. Tip is set for 9 PM ET (7 PM MT) from inside Moby Arena. The non-conference clash will be played in front of a national audience on the Mountain West Network and can also be heard anywhere in the country on WRAD.
