CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Radford softball program fell on the road to a tough North Carolina squad Tuesday afternoon 4-0, their first shutout loss of the season.
Â
The Highlanders' efforts were stifled by a pair of rough innings today, in the first and sixth frames respectively. In the first inning, North Carolina tagged Radford for four runs, forcing a pitching change. Dakota Redmon entered and would hold the Tar Heels scoreless over the next four innings to keep Radford close.
Â
The Highlanders got a scoring opportunity in the fifth as Kelley Feigen doubled with just one out in the inning, but Radford couldn't escape with the run. A pair of costly errors resulted in four runs in the home half of the seventh, allowing North Carolina to score enough to end the game in the sixth for the 8-0 final.
Â
UP NEXT
The Highlanders turn their focus to their first Big South action of the year this upcoming weekend. Radford will visit Gardner-Webb for a three-game series kicking off on Friday, March 14th with a 4 p.m. first pitch on ESPN+.
