Stephens Earns Singles Win Against Virginia Tech

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's tennis program fell to a strong Virginia Tech squad Friday afternoon on the home courts with the match highlighted by Michaela Stephens' win on court one.
Virginia Tech would take courts two and three to clinch the doubles point, but the pairing of Julia Abrams and Lexi Smolder had battled back to tie 3-3 on court one before going unfinished.
In singles play, it was Stephens who picked up the big win on court one. The sophomore took the first set 6-4 before her opponent would retire in the second set sealing the match in Stephens' favor.
UP NEXT
Big South play awaits the Highlanders in their next match when they will open the conference season at home against Longwood. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m. at the Radford Tennis Complex.
