Tight Matches Slip Away Against Buccaneers

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's tennis program fell in a shortened match Sunday afternoon 4-0 to Charleston Southern despite multiple close battles.
Sunday's match began with a tightly contested doubles point between the two squads. The Buccaneers took the early advantage on court two, but the Highlanders responded thanks to the pairing of Michaela Stephens and Brooke Murphy taking court three in comeback fashion 6-4. Charleston Southern slipped away on court one, however, to earn the early 1-0 lead.
The Buccaneers would seal the match in their favor taking courts four, five and six for the 4-0 final. Radford was battling on the top three remaining courts before going unfinished. Stephens had stormed back in her first set against the Buccaneers and was up 6-4, 2-3. Lexi Smolder was also similarly up 7-5, 0-2 on court three.
