
Magson Breaks 4k Program Record Again as Cross Country Rewrites Record Book at Virginia Tech Invite

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Radford men's and women's cross country programs rewrote the program record book for the 4k event Friday night competing at the Virginia Tech Invite highlighted by Sophie Magson's program record, the women's program's team victory and 11 new entries in the top-10 list across the men's and women's program lists.

Taking the course first was the women's program who made a stellar team-score debut to the season, placing first in the field and ahead of New River Valley foe Virginia Tech. Magson, who placed second overall, re-broke the program record for the 4k she set last week with a new time of 13:47.4. Right behind her was Sienna Bailey who finished with a time of 14:15.9, which ranks third all-time.

The program's top 10 marks didn't stop there as Mia Farley finished with a time of 14:38.4, good for fifth all-time. Cora Gentzel made a great impression in her debut, coming in right behind Farley with a 14:39.7 finish which places sixth all-time. Sophomore Claire Keefe rounded out the top finishers for Radford and ranked seventh all-time with her time of 14:44.5. Katelyn Campbell and Addison Crow also finished with times that ranked top 10, as the Highlanders' 4k record standings now all come in under 15 minutes.

On the men's side, the Highlanders placed second as a team and wrote four new marks into the program top-10 list. Topping today's finishes, Azrael Cabusao etched his name into second all-time for the 6k with a time of 18:40.4. Charlie Dance would finish right behind Cabusao, and PR by three seconds in the event to reestablish his place in the record book. The freshman Mason Lewis finished with a time of 18:53.8 which ranked fifth in program history.

Rounding out the men's top finishers were freshman Jensen McCutcheon with a time that ranked eighth in program history and freshman Quinlan Beegle whose time ranked just a few seconds outside of the top 10.
