Potter Takes Home Big South Weekly Honors for Second Time this Season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that Macie Potter has been named the Freshman of the Week for the second time this season after another strong weekend.

Potter played a large role in Radford's 3-0 sweep at Presbyterian and was solid despite limited action at Charleston Southern to help the Highlanders split results on the road this week. In the winning effort she totaled 13 kills, her fourth match this season with 10+ kills against a Big South foe. She also hit a team-high .478 in the match. Potter would only appear in the first set against the Buccaneers but still finished the weekend averaging 4.00 kills per set.

The weekly award is the third for the Highlanders this season and the second in Potter's young career. Potter is the first Highlander since 2014 to earn multiple Freshman of the Week nods in the same season, last done so by program great Maddie Palmer in her debut year.

Radford returns home this weekend for another action-packed pair of matches inside the Dedmon Center. On Friday night Radford hosts USC Upstate for a 6:00 p.m. start that features Throwback night. Saturday's match against UNC Asheville is at 4:00 p.m. and is the team's annual Women in Sports match with a t-shirt giveaway. Both matches are also occurring during Radford University's Homecoming Weekend.
