CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that Mia Jannazzo has earned the Libero of the Week nod after another strong weekend bolstering the Highlanders defense.
Â
The freshman made a big impact despite playing in two quick 3-0 wins this past weekend for the Highlanders. She averaged 5.17 digs per set to put her name in the record book as she begins her climb up the single-season digs top 10 list with 447 and counting. In Radford's 3-0 win over Presbyterian, she helped the team concede just one ace to the Blue Hose in the match. Her 17 digs were her second most in a winning three-set affair this season, also against the Blue Hose. Against Charleston Southern, she added 14 more digs.
Â
The weekly award is the sixth for the Highlanders this season as well as the second in Jannazzo's young career. Jannazzo joins fellow Highlander freshman Macie Potter who has earned four weekly awards this season.
Â
The final stretch of the season is a crucial one for the Highlanders as the top seeds of the Big South Tournament are all within reach. Radford begins this stretch on Friday, November 6th at Gardner-Webb with a 6:00 p.m. start.
