Biography

CAREER: Three-time first team all-conference and all state… Two time first team all-region… As a four-year starter, she finished her career second all-time with 243 hits, 142 RBI, 46 doubles and 376 total bases… Also finished career ranked in batting average (3rd/.345), on base pct. (5th/.391), home runs (6th/25), slugging (6th/.533), walks (t8th/56) and runs (9th/105)… Set a school record with a career .994 fielding percentage.

2010 HIGHLIGHTS:
First team all-Region, conference and state… Ranked in the Big South top five in batting average, doubles, RBI, hits, slugging, total bases and fewest strikeouts and top 10 in home runs and on-base percentage… Recorded a perfect 1.000 (233 attempts), a first for any player with 75 or more attempts. Recorded game-winning hit in NCAA Regionals vs. No. 24 Florida State... Reached base safely in 30-consecutive games (3/13-4/24) and 48-of-55 (42 with hits) this season… 13-game (.442) and 11-game (.500) hitting streaks.

2009 HIGHLIGHTS:
First Team Mid-Atlantic Region, Big South and VaSID all-state selections... One of four Highlanders to start every game... Ranked in the Big South’s top ten in hits (63/5th), batting average (.356/6th), doubles (12/t6th), on base (.405/9th) and slugging (.576/10th) percentages… Went 2-for-2 against eventual national semifinalist Georgia in first NCAA Regional appearance… Scored Radford’s first ever NCAA Regional run in the fourth inning against the Bulldogs… Closed out Big South championship game against Liberty with a sixth-inning two-run run round tripper... Threw out 32 percent of runners trying to steal... Third on the team in hits, doubles, triples and RBI and fourth in runs scored and slugging... Recorded 19 multi-hit and nine multi-RBI games... Went for three base knocks in six of those multi-hit games... Recorded four straight multi-hit games, going 9-16 during that stretch (March 24-30)... 3-for-3 with three RBI at Longwood... 7-for-10 with a double and home run in final four games of Chevron Spring Fling Tournament... Big South Player of the Week (3/17)... Knocked in a career-high five runs vs. Harvard.

2008 HIGHLIGHTS: First-team all-conference and VaSID All-State... "Toughest Player to Strikeout" in the nation, striking out four times in 179 at bats… One of five players to start every game… Three-time Big South Player of the Week… Led team in hits and fielding percentage... Ranked third in the league in RBI and fourth in hits... Team-best 18 multiple-hit and 11 multi-RBI games... Batted .500 (14-28) with 10 RBI during a team-high nine-game hitting streak (Feb. 24-March 12)… Four three-hit games… 3-for-4 with double, home run and two RBI vs. Coastal Carolina on ESPNU (7-for-8 in two ESPNU games)… 5-for-8 with six RBI in doubleheader at Virginia.

2007 HIGHLIGHTS: Started 63 games... Recorded third best batting average on the team ... Scored 23 runs and stole seven bases... In ESPNU game vs. Winthrop, went 4-of-4 with a double two RBI and two runs scored... Hit first collegiate home run vs. Furman at Buzz Classic... First collegiate hit and RBI vs. Jacksonville State at Gamecock Invitational... 3-for-4 vs. Furman with three RBI and two runs at Winthrop/Adidas Tournament ... Selected to Catamount Classic and Big South All-Tournament Teams... Batted .533 (8-15) with a home run six RBI and threw out 2-of-3 runners at Catamount Classic... Recorded consecutive three hit games against UNC Wilmington and Western Carolina with walk-off singles in both contests... Big South Player of the Week (3/19).

PREP: As a senior, Potomac Nationals Softball Player of the Year and Washington Post's Honorable Mention All-Met ... 2005 Cardinal District Player of the Year and second-team all-met... Four-time first-team all-area and all-district... Washington Post's First-Team All-Extra from 2004 to 2006 as well as second-team all-region as a senior and first-team during junior and sophomore campaigns ... Two-year captain and team MVP as a junior and defensive player of the year as a freshman.

Sarah Elizabeth Himan was born on May 2, 1988 in Manassas, Va.... Criminal justice major… Sarah and her two older brothers, Josh and Jake and younger brother Joel are the children of Jerry and Pat Himan.
