Randy Jarman enters his fifth season as the head coach of Radford's swimming and diving coach program and second year as the Dedmon Center's Natatorium Director.
Jarman's coaching experience, which ranges across the collegiate, club and high school levels, has spanned over 20 years, including 15 and the Division I level.
Out of the pool, Jarman’s team epitomize what a “student-athlete” really is. Every season his team is well represented on the CCSA's Academic Team, which included 21 in 2010-11.
In his first season as head coach at Radford, Jarman led the Highlanders into a new era. Radford entered the CCSA after being a part of the Northeast Conference for many years. The Highlanders were 8-12 overall and finished ninth in the league with an 8-8 mark.
Before Jarman came to Radford in 2006-07 he was the head coach of the Douglas County Stingrays, a club team of over 100 swimmers. In 2007 he led the Stingrays to a Division III Georgia 14-U first runner-up in the state competition.
An assistant at North Carolina, he specialized in the breaststroke and sprints. While at UNC, he instructed two 2004 Olympic Trials qualifiers, three ACC champions, four All-Americas, and eleven senior national qualifiers. During his five-year tenure with the Tar Heels, Jarman also headed up the North Carolina Aquatic team and led the team to a second-place state finish, which was the highest in the club’s history.
In Jarman's first high school stint, he guided Shelby High School (Shelby, N.C.) to its first state championship in 11 year. His success garnered Jarman the 2002 North Carolina High Shcool and Charlotte Observer Coach of the Year honors.
Prior to his time at Shelby High School, Jarman served on the coaching staff at East Carolina where he helped lead the Pirates to the 2000 Colonial Athletic Association Championship and the 2001 East Coast Athletic Conference title. Jarman coached the one NCAA qualifier East Carolina had in his term as a graduate assistant
Jarman is a 1997 graduate of East Carolina University. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and received his Master’s degree in sociology from East Carolina in 2000.
