JAMES MADISON'S SECOND HALF SURGE TOO MUCH FOR FIELD HOCKEY

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison scored five goals in the second half to break a 1-1 deadlock and defeat Radford, 6-1, Sunday afternoon from JMU Field Hockey Complex.
After James Madison (8-7) took the early, 1-0 lead in the third minute, sophomore Jennifer Balka evened the match in the 21st minute knocking in her own rebound. It was her second goal in as many games and fourth of the season.
RU keeper Jennifer Wisniewski (Centreville, Va./Westfield) kept the Highlanders (8-5) even going into the half, making six of her nine saves. JMU's Stephanie Tarafas made all four of her saves in the first half for the Dukes.
Dolores de Rooij scored 4:23 into the second half to put the Dukes up 2-1. The eventual game-winner started a four-goal, 15-minute outburst for the Dukes.
de Rooij and Amy Daniel each finished with a pair of scores for the Dukes.
Radford stays on the road taking on No. 11 Wake Forest, Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
