LYNCHBURG, Va. – Senior Bryan Wallace broke his previous 60-meter hurdles school record with a time of 8.23 and the Highlanders recorded 11 Top-5 showings to conclude the Liberty Open Saturday afternoon.

Wallace finished fifth in the event with his record-breaking effort, followed closely by freshman Chris Dobbins, who also broke the old 60-meter hurdle standard by a tenth of a second at 8.27.

Wallace later recorded another Top-10 mark in the long jump with a leap of 6.82m/22-04.50, while Dobbins finished the high jump in a tie for third, with a personal best height of 1.89m/6-02.25.

Kaise White had a brilliant 400m race, taking home third with a time of 50.82. He also collected Top-10 honors in the 200, clocking in at 22.97.

Freshman Sean Shelton led the 800m Radford competitors with a second-place performance and time of 2:01.76. Chris Weeks was right on his heels, as he finished fifth with a 2:02.84 mark.

In the distance events, freshman Brian Gorwitz ran the mile in 4:26.98 and took 7th place in a field of 46 competitors.

Elsewhere in the field events, freshman Sean Zatt recorded his first collegiate mark at 3.90/12-09.50 in the pole vault. Sophomore Antonio Miller wrapped up the triple jump at 14.05m/46-01.25, tallying another Highlander Top-5 finish.

Justin Smith and newcomer Curtis Hodge both impressed in the throws. Smith finished third in the shot put with a toss of 15.21m/49-11.00. Having never thrown weight before this year, Hodge recorded a mark of 16.57m/54-04.50, recording his second consecutive Top-10 finish by taking fifth place in the event.

On the women's side, Courtni Pannell flew down the lanes in the 60-meter hurdles and recorded a second-place finish with a 9.02 time. Freshman teammate Amber Church was slightly behind Pannell, recording a 9.20, which stood for fifth place.

In the 400, Diane Wesh crossed the line in 1:00.60 and took home third place.

Senior Britney Whittaker continued her brilliant start to the indoor season by taking second in the 800 with a time of 2:21.91.

Freshman Lakei Crews enjoyed a 7.94 mark in the 60-meter preliminaries before topping that mark with a 9.72 in the finals, placing 7th.

School-record holder Nikki Roseberry finished in a tie for 5th in the high jump, leaping to a 1.60m/5-03.00 mark.

On Friday, Lindsey Noe and Jessica Barron were the lone Highlander participants, both competing in the pole vault. Noe wrapped up at a 2.80/9-02.25 mark while Barron recorded a 2.60m/8-06.25 height.

The Highlanders will enjoy a two-week break before competing in the Akron Invitational on Feb. 11-12.
