RADFORD, Va. – In a game that neither team led by more than six points, Eastern Michigan made six of its seven 3-point attempts in the second half to hold off Radford, 52-48, in non-conference men's basketball action Tuesday evening at the Dedmon Center.

The loss drops the Highlanders to 3-10, while the Eagles improve to 5-6 on the young season.

After going 1-of-8 from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes of action, six of Eastern Michigan's seven field goals after intermission came from long range.

Trailing 35-34, the Eagles used a 12-5 spurt, highlighted by three 3-pointers, to grab the game's largest lead and go in front for good.

Despite the setback, the Highlanders' backcourt duo of Jareal Smith (Savannah, Ga. / Johnson) and R.J. Price (Mechanicsville, Va. / Atlee) scored 18 points each, while combining to make all eight of their club's treys.

Quintin Dailey was the lone Eagle in double figures with 13 points.

After Radford used a 12-4 run midway through the first half to go up, 21-16, the Eagles scored the final five points of the period to tie the score at the break.

Eastern Michigan finished the contest shooting 41 percent, while holding the Highlanders to just 32.1 percent and 8-of-27 (.296) from long range.

Tonight's contest featured seven ties and 12 lead changes.

Radford continues its challenging non-conference slate Friday evening with an 8 p.m. televised (ESPN3) contest at Maryland.
