SERIES HISTORY
Radford and Tennessee match up for the fourth time in program history, but the two squads haven't faced each other since the 2001-02 season. Tennessee owns all three victories in the series that dates back to 1992. In that last meeting, Radford came up just short in a 72-66 final. Four different Highlanders scored in double figures including Correy Watkins (19), Raymond Arrington (16), Andrey Savtchenko (15), and David Popoola (10). Radford held a slim 64-62 lead with 3:54 to play, but a three pointer by the Volunteers and multiple makes at the free throw line helped them escape with the win.
SCOUTING THE VOLUNTEERS
Tennessee will mark the Highlanders toughest test so far this season as they enter Monday ranked top 10 in the national AP preseason poll. In the SEC preseason poll, the Volunteers were also predicted to finish fourth while Juke Harris was tabbed to preseason SEC second-team all-conference honors.
In their lone game of the season so far, Tennessee dispatched Wofford 90-59. Dewayne Brown II led the efforts on both ends thanks to 17 points on an efficient 7-of-11 shooting night and 17 rebounds for the double-double while Terrence Hill Jr. also came off the bench for 17 points. The Volunteers shot over 50% and only missed once from the free throw line while holding Wofford to just a 30% showing.
DO-IT-ALL JA'CROEY
Through the first two games of the season, sophomore Ja'Corey Robinson has been involved in all facets of the game for the Highlanders. He currently leads the team's assisting efforts recording five each in last week's contests at San Francisco and California. He's also averaging 9.0 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game, totals that both rank top three on the squad. He's already set a new single game career high for rebounds, just missing a double-double with nine boards against California last time out. With the 10 assists, he's already 1/6th of the way to his total during his freshman season campaign.
ERICHSEN'S STARTING STRONG
In his first two career starts with the Highlanders, Frederik Erichsen has played a major role in the team's offensive efforts. In both games last week at San Francisco and California, he led the team in shots made, free throws made, points per game and was the team's leader in rebounds against the Dons. After playing primarily in a bench role last season, Erichsen is standing tall to the task with the increased workload shooting 42% overall for an average 14.0 ppg. In two games, he has already set new single game highs for points (16), rebounds (8) and made shots (6).
