Speier, a native of Springfield, Va., was a standout pitcher for the Highlanders from 1998-2001. He signed with the Colorado Rockies organization as a free agent in 2001, and made the 25-man Opening Day roster in 2005 and became the second Radford player to play in the major leagues.
