GREEN TABBED BIG SOUTH FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Javonte Green of the Radford men's basketball team has been named the Big South Freshman of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

A native of Alberta, Va., Green finished the week averaging 21.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals, while shooting 68 percent (17-25) from the floor.

Green began his week with a game-high 23 points, 11 rebounds and four steals against VMI. In addition to his sixth double-double this season, Green finished 8-of-12 from the field.

The 6-4 forward and product of Brunswick High, capped the week with his third 20-point effort of the season and second straight. Against league-rival Liberty, Green went 9-of-13, scored 20 points and grabbed eight more rebounds.

Over the last 11 games, Green is averaging 14.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.7 steals and shooting 51.3 percent (58-113).

The Highlanders return to action Thursday evening with a 7 p.m. tip against Winthrop at the Dedmon Center.
