RADFORD REMAINS IN SECOND AT HIGHLANDER INVITATIONAL

RADFORD, Va. – Junior Skye Hickling won the 3-meter board and freshman Sarah Fredericksen claimed second in the 100 butterfly on day two of the Highlander Invitational, Friday evening from the Dedmon Center Natatorium.
Prelims | Finals
Hickling posted a personal-best score of 275.55, while Fredericksen turned in a time of 58.01. In addition to those performances the Highlanders churned out 14 personal bests in the morning and evening sessions and remain in second place with 492.5 points.
Also turning in top-five swimming performances were senior Emily Turner, freshman Mary Flinn, junior Jessica Frazelle, junior Alex Poletti and freshman Kelsey Parshall.
Turner kicked in a fourth-place finish in the 400 IM (4:43.51), while Frazelle and Flynn each recorded a 59.73 to tie for fifth in the 100 backstroke. It was a personal best for Flynn. On the 3-meter board, Poletti improved on her score from last week with a 198.60, followed by a personal-best 149.24 from Parshall.
Rounding out the top-five performances were the 800 freestyle relay squad of (7:56.89/4th) of Turner, Frazelle, Fredericksen and Flynn, as well as the 200 medley team (1:52.67/5th) of Frazelle, junior Haley Schweitzer, Fredericksen and junior Meaghan Rowley.
The meet concludes tomorrow with preliminaries beginning at 9:00 a.m. and the finals at 4:00 p.m.
