2012 NCAA SINGLES BRACKET

ATHENS, Ga. –
Radford's Nicholas Sayer will take on No. 25 Ray Sarmiento of USC Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the opening round of the 2012 NCAA Singles Championships at The Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the University of Georgia campus.

The winner will advance to the round of 32 to face the victor of the match between No. 22 Anthony Rossi (Kentucky) and No. 2 Mitchell Frank (Virginia).

Sayer, who enters ranked 120th in the county, earned the bid by being the Big South's highest ranked player.

The 2012 Big South Player of the Year, Sayer led the Highlanders with a 29-11 record at the top singles position. Named Player of the Week four times in 2012, Sayer has a career record of 59-17, which includes an upset of then-No. 9 Jose Hernandez of North Carolina during the fall.

An ITA All-American in 2011, Sarmiento comes in 35-11 on the season, which includes a 17-5 record at the No. 2 singles position.

Sarmiento and the Trojans will play for their fourth straight national title this evening as they take on No. 2 Virginia at 5 p.m.

This year marks the seventh straight season a Highlander has been selected to take part in the NCAA Championships.

The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 23-28.
