BLACKSBURG, Va. – Nicholas Sayer and Patrick O'Keefe of the Radford men's tennis team were defeated by their opposition Sunday as the Highlanders ended their run in the ITA Atlantic Regional at Virginia Tech's Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
Old Dominion's 59th-ranked Carlos Lopez Villa, who was seeded sixth in the singles main draw, handed O'Keefe a 6-1, 6-1 loss. George Washington's 94th-ranked and ninth-seeded Francisco Dias won a rematch against Sayer in straight sets (6-1, 7-5). The two also battled in April of this year with Dias winning that encounter as well (6-4, 6-2).
The Highlanders have one more fall tournament, the Jim Russell Memorial, before turning their focus to the spring's dual season. North Carolina hosts the three-day event, which begins Nov. 1 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
