RESULTS

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Freshmen Michiel Meekers and Jose Moreno Manzano both won their round of 16 singles matches Friday to lead the Radford men's tennis team on day one of the Wake Forest Fall Invitational at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.

Meekers clashed with fellow freshman Diego Castano of Liberty in the C1 Singles bracket. It was a tightly-contested affair, but Meekers was able to get the victory in the end (6-4, 7-5).

Moreno Manzano did not have as difficult of a time with his opponent, Logan Walker of UNC Greensboro. The Spaniard dispatched his adversary in straight sets (6-1, 6-0).

The freshmen duo also paired up to record an 8-5 doubles victory Friday morning against Davidson's Alex Howard and Ricky Saad.

Also of note, Patrick O'Keefe played brilliantly against Mikelis Libietis of Tennessee, who entered the tournament ranked 24^th in the nation. O'Keefe showed no signs of intimidation early on, capturing the first set 6-3. However, Libietis answered with a 6-1 decision in the second stanza and a 6-4 win in the third set to post the come-from-behind victory.

Saturday's action will consist of singles competition, which gets underway at 9 a.m.
