RADFORD, Va. – It is rare to find an individual who excels in academics and athletics as well as women's cross country/track and field standout Teresa Williamson.
Â
The senior from Chesapeake, Va., recently sat down with @RUTV_Athletics for an interview, which can be viewed at the top of this page. Williamson had quite a year in 2013-14. Below were some of her accomplishments:
- Radford's first all-conference cross country runner since 2009
- First female to be recognized as a Capital One Academic All-America® selection in program history
- 2014 Big South Indoor Championship Most Outstanding Performer
- Big South champion in the 3K and the mile at the indoor championships
- Big South champion in the 1,500 at the outdoor championships
- Radford University Female Co-Athlete of the Year
- Two-time Big South women's track athlete of the week
Her success last year has only continued this fall. Williamson ran her first sub-18 time on a 5K course nearly one month ago by clocking a 17:43.85 to finish second at the Greater Louisville Classic. She is just one of five Big South runners to accomplish that feat this season.
Â
On top of her athletic achievements, Williamson is equally as strong in her academics. She has maintained a 4.0 GPA in Radford's rigorous nursing program, which is widely regarded as one of the best in the region.
Â
Into her senior campaign, Williamson continues to live out her dream of running at the Division I level and moving closer to obtaining her nursing degree next May. And with the help of her coaches, teammates and professors, she continues to reach for greatness.
