TRACK AND FIELD IN SEARCH OF QUALIFYING PERFORMANCES IN SALEM, CHARLOTTESVILLE

RADFORD, Va. – Members of the Radford track and field team are making their final preparations for two regional-qualifying meets over the next three days. The Highlanders are entered in the Roanoke Twilight (Thursday) and the Virginia Challenge (Friday-Saturday).

Part of Radford's distance crew will make the short trip up Interstate 81 to Salem, Va. for the Roanoke Twilight. All events will take place at Roanoke's Bast Track except the men's and women's pole vault, which will be contested at Virginia Tech's Johnson-Miller Track Complex in Blacksburg, Va. Competition commences at 3 p.m. with the women's long jump.

A strong field of collegiate and professional athletes will be competing in the two-day Virginia Challenge, which features Olympians, All-Americans and NCAA Champions. Ashlen Veatch (women's hammer), Courtney Rice (women's 3,000 steeplechase) and Joseph Betts (men's 400) are scheduled for Friday. Meanwhile, Vincent Wyatt (men's 110 hurdles), Jessica Shelton (women's 100 hurdles), Ryan Farnan (men's 5,000) and Teresa Williamson (women's 1,500) are slated for Saturday.
