WYATT TO REPRESENT RADFORD AT NCAA TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

RADFORD, Va. – Junior hurdler Vincent Wyatt will compete for Radford Thursday afternoon in the semifinals of the men's 110-meter hurdles at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships contested at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.

Seeded ninth, Wyatt qualified for nationals based on his 13.60 he ran at the East Regional nearly two weeks ago. His top time is a Big South record for the event.

Wyatt, who is the eighth Highlander on the men's side to punch his ticket to nationals, will race at 8:05 p.m. (5:05 p.m. PT) in Thursday's semifinals. There will be three heats comprised of eight hurdlers in each for a total of 24 competitors. The top-two times in each heat automatically advance, along with the next two fastest times overall.

Eight finalists will vie for the national title Saturday at 6:12 p.m. (3:12 p.m. PT). A breakdown of the starting list for the men's 110-meter hurdles is below.

Outlook: Five first-team All-Americans from 2013 return to Eugene, including defending champion Wayne Davis II of Texas A&M. Southern California's Aleec Harris enters with the top time (13.18), which he ran May 31 at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Fayetteville, Ark. In fact, the top-four times in the nation were delivered at that meet (wind did aid in the times being lower). Eddie Lovett of Florida topped the East Region's qualifiers with his 13.45 in Jacksonville, Fla. Wyatt, who finished third at the East Regional, has 10 individual titles to his credit this year.
Coach White's Thoughts: I'm very excited and happy for Vincent. He has worked extremely hard to achieve his goals. This was one of them from the beginning of the year, to make it to Eugene and have the chance to run for a national championship. He has run against quite a few of the guys already this year who are in the field, including the defending champ. He's ready!"
