RADFORD, Va. - R.J. Price hit the go-ahead jumper with 1:41 to play, and Radford (16-7, 7-3) finished the remainder of the game outscoring Winthrop (11-10, 6-4) 6-0 to secured its seventh-straight win, 73-66, Saturday at the Dedmon Center. Javonte Green led the Highlanders with 21 points and nine rebounds. Price added 13, but none bigger than the 18-foot jumper from the top of the key that gave RU the lead for good.

Radford rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to lead by as many as eight with 10:17 to play after YaYa Anderson connected on his second three-pointer of the afternoon, but the Eagles would not go easily. Keon Moore keyed a comeback that put Winthrop in the lead with 3:21 to play, 66-65, on a Xavier Cooks layup, but the Highlanders would shut down the WU offense the rest of the way.

Moore finished with a game-high 22, but only four of those came in the second half. Andre Smith was also in double figures for the guests with 14, but on a single bucket in the final 20 minutes.

"This was a tough-fought college basketball game," Radford head coach Mike Jones said. "We knew they were going to give us their best punch, and they were really playing at a high level in the first half. I was not satisfied with how hard we were playing in the first half."

Winthrop hit 5-9 from behind the arc in the first half and took a 35-28 lead into the locker room. The second half saw Radford pick up its intensity.

"After we kept imploring our guys to play harder in the first half, we were able to hang around," Jones said. "We challenged our guys to be the hardest playing team in the second half, and we were able to do that."

Green began the second half with an emphatic dunk and rolled to 18 points. Price kept the Highlanders within striking distance with 11 in the first half and hit his only basket of the second at the most crucial of times. The Radford bench proved the difference in the game with a 31-11 edge over the Eagles. Jalen Carethers scored nine points, and Cameron Jones eight, while Rashun Davis and Kion Brown each added six. Jones grabbed a career-high seven rebounds.

"We are a deep team that can cause some problems for our opponents," coach Jones said. "Our bench has been productive all year."

Radford heads Tuesday to High Point to face the league-leading Panthers.
