SCORING SUMMARY

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Radford recorded its sixth shutout of the season while holding Gardner-Webb without a shot on goal en route to a 5-0 Big South men's soccer win over the Runnin' Bulldogs on Senior Night at Cupp Stadium.
  • Sivert Daehlie opened the scoring for the second straight match when he roofed an Evan Szklennik cross from the right wing in the 28th minute.
  • Jakob Strandsäter and Szklennik both recorded their second goals of the season in the 39th and 61st minutes, respectively.
  • Daehlie notched his second straight multi-goal game when he buried a shot in the 64th minute off a header pass from Szklennik.
  • Austin Smythe found the back of the net for the first time in his Highlander career when he chased down a through ball and deposited it into goal in the 81st minute.

  • INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Daehlie becomes the first Highlander since Bernardo Ulmo in 2013 to reach double-digit goals in a single season.
  • By increasing his season goal total to 10, Daehlie becomes the Big South leader in goals scored by a freshman.
  • Twenty-four of Radford's league-leading 36 goals scored this season are by underclassmen, including all five tonight.
  • Entering halftime, the Highlanders' previous six goals were by freshmen, dating back to Daehlie's golden goal against High Point on Oct. 17.
  • Radford outshot its opponent for the 14th time this season, gaining a 28-3 advantage over GWU.
  • Gardner-Webb became the first RU opponent this season to not chart a shot on goal.
  • The Highlanders have won nine of their last 10 outings to tie their season win total from 2014.
  • RU defeated the Runnin' Bulldogs for the sixth straight meeting.
  • Radford improved to 7-0-1 at home this season.
