SCORING SUMMARY

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sixth-seeded High Point capitalized on an own goal in the 90th minute to prevail 4-3 over second-seeded Radford in a wild Big South tournament semifinal match Friday night at Bryan Park.
  • The Highlanders trailed 1-0 midway into the second half before erupting for three goals in less than four minutes. Finn Tiedemann tied it, Daniel O'Keefe put them in front and Sivert Daehlie made it 3-1.
  • High Point came back with two goals in a three-minute span, tying the game in the 81st minute.
  • The scoring was capped in the final minute with the seventh goal of the second stanza and the sixth in the last 25 minutes.
  • Radford had one last chance to tie in the final 10 seconds, but a free kick by Jamie Summers from just outside the box missed high.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Daehlie tallied his team-leading 12th goal of the season, putting home a rebound after a shot by Tiedemann hit the crossbar.
  • Tiedemann's goal was his seventh of the year and came off a feed from Szklennik inside the box.
  • Fraser Colmer assisted on O'Keefe's header goal with a free kick, giving him seven assists for the season.
  • High Point's goal in the 56th minute ended Radford's scoreless streak at 583 consecutive minutes.
  • The four goals by the Panthers matched the total allowed by the Highlanders in their previous 10 games against conference competition this season.
  • Radford finished with a 12-10 advantage in shots, but High Point had an 8-6 edge in attempts on goal.
  • The Highlanders dominated the corner kick battle, 10-1.
  • Aitor Pouseu Blanco recorded four saves, including a diving stop in the first half.
  • High Point advances to Sunday's championship against top-seeded Winthrop.

QUOTABLE
  • "This is an absolutely devastating way to lose. Ahead 3-1, we should have been able to see out the game and advance on, but credit High Point for having the emotion and momentum to win it. Three of the goals we gave up were bizarre to say the least, but again, if you do not manage the game correctly and remain focused, that can happen. This group has been incredible, and I believe based on our results and opponents' successes, we deserve and will get another opportunity to play again. Thank you to everyone who made the trip and sorry we could not advance through." ~ Radford head coach, Marc Reeves

UP NEXT
