HOW IT HAPPENED
- Radford stormed back from two sets down to defeat Gardner-Webb, 3-2, and notch a key Big South Conference volleyball win on the road, Friday night.
- With the victory, the Highlanders are assured a spot in the eight-team Big South tournament next week.
- The Highlanders limited Gardner-Webb to .025 and .028 on the attack in the third and fourth sets before registering a .444 hitting percentage themselves in the deciding game with nine kills and just one error.
- Radford controlled each of the final sets, moving out to early leads and pulling away in the third and the fourth.
- RU led 12-8 in the fifth before Gardner-Webb scored three straight to get within one. However, the Highlanders answered with three in a row to close it out on back-to-back kills.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Maddie Palmer led a balanced Radford offense with 15 kills, Megan Short recorded 14 and Savanna Burton added 13.
- Burton also added 10 digs for a double-double, while Palmer fell one dig short of the feat with nine.
- Haley Kleespies notched her 11th double-double of the year, dishing out 42 assists and picking up a team-high 14 digs.
- Kelby Jackson chipped in 12 digs, while Short and Amaya Rousseau each recorded two solo blocks to lead the way at the net, defensively.
- Both teams totaled 58 kills, but Radford finished with a .214 attacking percentage for the match, compared to just .124 for Gardner-Webb.
- Tyra Montour led the Runnin' Bulldogs with 15 kills, while Anna Pashkova recorded a match-high 32 digs.
- The second set featured nine lead changes before Gardner-Webb pulled it out with a late three-point run.

- Radford travels to UNC Asheville Saturday for its regular-season finale. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
