RADFORD, Va. ---- After having its previous five games cancelled due to winter weather, the Radford softball team finally takes to the field at the USF Under Armour Invitational in Tampa, Fla.

The Highlanders will face off against five opponents over the three-day event. The Red and White open competition on Friday at 11:15 a.m. against Oakland. Following the matchup with the Golden Grizzlies, Radford moves fields to play Middle Tennessee at 1:45.

On Saturday, the Highlanders have a second back-to-back day beginning with Sacred Heart at 10 a.m. and concluding with Central Arkansas at 12:15 p.m.

Radford wraps up its weekend in Tampa against Rhode Island on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

Last time out, the Highlanders run-ruled George Mason, 12-4, posting back-to-back four-run innings. The Red and White's highest run total since posting 16 against Liberty on April 8, 2014, was capped off by a grand slam by Maggie Rowe.

Kayla Bishton enters the weekend as Radford's top bat through the season's first seven games. Bishton is hitting .429 with four runs. Whitney Davis has batted in a team-high nine runs. Versus the Patriots, Davis recorded her third career two-homerun game. She is just the second Highlander to accomplish the feat, tying the mark set by 2012 All-American Nichole Beall.

>> The Highlanders have yet to lose to the Golden Grizzlies, coming into this week 2-0 in the series. In the last meeting in 2009, Radford downed Oakland 5-2. The Highlanders have outscored OU 9-2 in the two-game series.
>> Radford is 2-2 against Middle Tennessee. In the last edition, the Highlanders beat the Blue Raiders 6-3 on Feb. 21, 2014. RU has not lost to MTSU since 2004.
>> In the only meeting between the Red and White and Sacred Heart, the Highlanders downed the Pioneers 5-4 in 1999.
>> This weekend's matchup with Central Arkansas marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
>> Radford is 4-1 all-time against Rhode Island. In 2013, the Highlanders beat the Rams 5-2. The Red and White's lone loss to Rhode Island came in 1998.
