RADFORD, Va. ---- The Radford softball team opens its 2015 home slate on Saturday with a doubleheader against Big South Conference foe Campbell at the Radford Softball Stadium. First pitch against the Camels is slated for 1 p.m. on Saturday, with the series finale starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

 "We are always excited to come home to play in front of our own fans and other Radford teams," said head coach Maggie White. "There is a level of comfort of being at your own home. The girls are excited, and we should have some good weather so we are ready to go."

The Highlanders (4-11) are returning home after competing in a four-game tournament at East Tennessee State in Johnson City, Tenn. After dropping the opening pair of games by a combined three runs, Radford rebounded on day two with a 9-0 rout of ETSU in five innings. The Red and White was not short of power, hitting nine extra base hits and five home runs.

Nia Chiles enters the weekend as Radford's top bat. Chiles is hitting .444 with 16 hits and six runs. Whitney Davis leads the team with 16 RBI through 15 games. Davis is hitting .395 with seven extra base hits. Davis and Kayla Bishton are the lone Highlanders to notch a double, triple and home run this year.

In the circle, Radford has been pitching by committee. Tiffany Brown and Kelsey Weddle have thrown 24.2 and 23.1 innings respectively. Brown has pitched two complete games in three starts and has a team-high 19 strikeouts. Weddle pitched a complete-game shutout last time out, striking out three Buccaneers in the 9-0 run-rule of ETSU.

Radford is behind in the all-time series with Campbell (13-9), 9-24. In the very first meeting between the two programs, Campbell downed the Highlanders, 3-2. The first victory for Radford came on March 31, 1997, when the Highlanders knocked off the Camels, 10-9, in Radford. Last season, Campbell won the series against Radford, 2-1, in Buies Creek, N.C. The Highlanders took the second part of the doubleheader on March 21, 4-3. Chiles tallied two hits in three at bats, while Davis notched one of Radford's three RBI. Abby Morrow pitched a compete game, striking out three and surrendering five hits.

Fans in attendance at this weekend's games will receive a free seat cushion, while supplies last. Additionally, Saturday and Sunday will be Softball Bingo days. Admission at the Radford Softball Stadium is free.
