YUICHIRO HIDAKA ACHIEVES PERSONAL GOAL AT BOSTON MARATHON

RADFORD, Va. – Yuichiro Hidaka, one of Radford's skilled athletic trainers, participated in the Boston Marathon for the third straight year on Monday. His goal was to complete the 26.2 miles in less than three hours. He succeeded with 16 seconds to spare, finishing in 2:59.44.

Crossing the line only 50 minutes after the first finisher, the rainy forecast did not stop Hidaka from achieving his goal. He is already preparing for next year with a new goal in mind.

"The race was great," said Hidaka. "It felt good to be able to be back for the third year in a row. Although the weather wasn't ideal, I still was able to reach my goal of finishing under three hours. I will continue to train in hopes of attending next year and finishing under two hours and 50 minutes."

Hidaka finished under three hours during his first Boston Marathon, clocking a 2:59.35 in 2013. Then in 2014, he ran it in 3:00.14.

Hidaka has participated in many other marathon events throughout his running career. He notched his personal record at the Honolulu Marathon in 2014 where he stopped the watch in 2:57:55.
