SCORING SUMMARY

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Radford erupted for a season-high five goals in Wednesday's 5-1 Big South men's soccer win over UNC Asheville at the Radford University Artificial Turf Complex.
  • Finn Tiedemann put away his third goal of the season in the 25th minute, sneaking in a cross from Michael Walsh just inside the left post. Evan Szklennik also assisted on the play with a through ball to Walsh on the right wing.
  • Jamie Summers remained perfect on penalty kicks by slotting home his fourth conversion of the season in the 28th minute.
  • Szklennik earned his second assist of the match when he dribbled across the box and found Walsh for his first career goal in the 72nd minute.
  • Jo Vetle Rimstad drilled the Highlanders' second PK of the day in the 79th minute.
  • UNC Asheville's Zach Joens prevented the shutout by finding the back of the net just over 20 seconds after Vetle Rimstad scored.
  • Summers and Austin Smythe assisted on Sivert Daehlie's tally in the 82nd minute. It was Daehlie's fourth goal of the season, which ranks second among Big South freshmen.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • RU's five goals were the most scored during a regular-season fixture since Oct. 8 of last season (W, 5-0 at Longwood).
  • Eleven of the Highlanders' 19 goals scored this season are by underclassmen.
  • Radford is 6-for-6 on penalty-kick conversions this season.
  • The Highlanders are off to their best start since the 1995 season when they opened with a 10-1-1 record.
  • Radford outshot its opponent for the eighth time this season, gaining a 22-3 advantage against the Bulldogs.
  • Daehlie, Szklennik and Walsh each fired four shots for the Highlanders.

QUOTABLE
  • "Firstly, we are very thankful to the Radford outdoor facilities staff and all our athletics staff members who worked hard over the past 24 hours to enable us to get this game in. I thought we controlled the game well throughout and certainly moved the ball well in all areas of the field to create a lot of chances. We shared the ball well in the front half of the team and scored some good goals today. [We're] always disappointed not to get a clean sheet, but I thought our defenders and midfielders were very solid in ensuring we were set up correctly to limit them to just a couple shots. We have to turn it around quick to play a very talented Liberty team on the road this Saturday." ~ Radford head coach, Marc Reeves
