RADFORD, Va.  – As Radford honored their six seniors in a pregame ceremony, the Highlanders took care of business on the pitch, tallying three goals to secure an opportunity to play for the Big South Regular Season Championship on Nov. 2 with a shutout win over Campbell.

Head coach Marc Reeves honored Aitor Pouseu Blanco, Jo Vetle Rimstad, Bismark Amofah, Gabriel Amba, Garland Smith and Zachary Turk as they played their final regular season home match inside Cupp Stadium.

The Highlanders opened the match with three shots in the first 10 minutes as Jakob Strandsäter and Evan Szklennik fired back-to-back bullets, but were blocked by the Campbell defense.

In the 26th minute, Campbell committed a foul just outside the right side of the box. Fraser Colmer took the free kick, curving the ball around the Camel wall for the first goal of the match to the near post.

Radford took three shots and two corners in the final 19 minutes of the first half, but went to the locker room with a 1-0 lead.

The Camels first shot on frame came three minutes into the second half as Gabe Parrish sent a ball in, but Pouseu Blanco secured the attempt.

Pouseu Blanco's counterpart Matthew Mozynski flashed strong reflexes across the pitch with two kick saves in the half as the Highlanders looked to pad their lead.

Evan Szklennik's second shot on frame in the half found the back of the net from the left side off a through ball from Strandsäter in the 55th minute.

After their second goal of the match, Radford attempted five more shots with two on frame and one hitting the post, before Taylor Martin collected his first goal of the season.

Martin finished off a beautiful cross by Wyatt Erzen from midfield, dribbling through traffic to finish the high shot to the middle of the net to secure the Highlanders sixth home win of the season with a 3-0 decision.

QUOTABLE
  • "I thought tonight was a very professional performance in terms that we were set up well in the back and limited them to two shots on goal. The main thing is we passed with a good purpose and possessed the ball well. We moved the ball fast and created a ton of chances. Now we have to move on to prepare for a strong UNC Asheville team and to play for a championship on Wednesday." ~ Radford head coach Marc Reeves.
