- Radford will look to start the season 5-1 for the first time since 1985-86 when the Highlanders started the season 7-1 as the Highlanders take on Appalachian State for the first time since 2014. The Highlanders look to win their third consecutive contest versus the Mountaineers.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
- Record: 4-1
- Radford is currently on a four-game winning streak, outscoring opponents 260-197.
- The hot start to the season has been fueled by the play of Destinee Walker. The sophomore is averaging 15.0 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game.
- Walker ranks second in the Big South in scoring and rebounds.
- Last time out, Walker finished with her second career double-double, finishing with a career-high 20 points and 10 rebounds in a 70-54 win over UNC Greensboro on Friday night. Walker poured in 12 points in the second half on 6 of 7 shooting to finish the night 8 for 12.
- Walker joins redshirt senior Rachael Ross as the only two Highlanders on the current roster to score 20 points in a game. Ross poured in 21 points at Longwood Feb. 22, 2014.
- Radford placed four players in double figures for the first time since the Big South Tournament on March 11, 2016.
- Jayda Worthy (12), Sydney Nunley (10) and Khiana Johnson (10) rounded out the Highlanders in double-digits.
- Nunley's career high in points came on 4 of 8 shooting, while finishing with seven rebounds in a career-high 29 minutes of action.
- During the four-game winning streak, Radford has held opponents under 60 points, while only giving up 53.4 points per game on the season.
- In the win over UNC Greensboro, Radford shot a blistering 49.1 percent from the field, making 26 of 53 from the floor. The Highlanders missed shooting 50 percent from the first time since Dec. 12, 2015.
- Radford is one of only three Big South schools with a field goal percentage above 40-percent.
- The Highlanders are 113 for 264 from the field for a 42.8 field goal percentage.
- On the opposite end, opposing teams are only shooting 33.1 percent against the Radford defense, ranking 18th nationally.
- Radford has only committed 78 fouls on the season, which leads the Big South and ranks 10th in the country in fewest fouls committed.
SCOUTING APPALACHIAN STATE
- Record: 4-3
- The Mountaineers will be playing their third consecutive home game, holding a 1-1 record in the Holmes Center.
- Appalachian State is 2-0 against the Big South this season, defeating Gardner-Webb 72-67 on Nov. 12 in the Maggie Dixon Classic and Liberty 66-57 on Nov. 17. The Mountaineers will host UNC Asheville on Dec. 21.
- Coming off a 71-58 win over North Carolina A&T on Nov. 30, Madi Story turned in a 31-point performance on 12 of 20 shooting from the floor. Story is second on the squad with 11.6 points per game.
- Joi Jones paces the Mountaineers with 16.4 points per game, scoring double-figures in five of seven games on the season.
- Jones has gone over the 20-point mark twice on the season.
- Appalachian State has fared better in the second half than the first half this season. In the first half, the Mountaineers have been outscored 244-180. However, in the second half Appalachian State has outscored opponents 266-223.
- The Mountaineers have scored almost half of their points in the paint, tallying 212 of their 446 points down low.
- Appalachian State's defense has forced 149 turnovers (21.3 per contest). They are averaging 19.7 points off turnovers on the season.
