- Radford returns to the Dedmon Center on Thursday after two-game road trip saw the Highlanders extend their winning streak to five games. The Highlanders only morning matchup of the season, Radford collected a 79-68 victory over Davidson in last year's Education Day special.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
- Record: 5-1
- The Highlanders hot start to the season (5-1) is the best start to a season since 1985-86. Radford kicked off the 85-86 season with a 7-1 start.
- Radford's five-game winning streak has been highlighted by an 317-251 outscoring of opponents.
- After turning in back-to-back double-doubles on the road trip, giving her three in a row, Destinee Walker collected her first Big South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honor on Monday.
- Walker played a crucial role in Radford's two wins last week – averaging 21 points, 10.5 rebounds and one steal per game. The Florence, S.C. native connected on 60.7 percent (17-28) of her shots, finishing 3 for 6 from downtown.
- The sophomore has scored double-digits in the first six games to start the season. The last Highlander to start the season with double-figures in the first six games was Da'Naria Erwin Spencer in 2011-12. Erwin Spencer started the season with nine games of double-digit scoring.
- Walker's hot start to the season has led her to leading the Big South in scoring (16.2 ppg) and ranking second in rebounding (8.3 rpg).
- Joining Walker in double-figures on the week, Jayda Worthy tallied 12 points and four assists in a win over UNC Greensboro on Dec. 4. Worthy collected her seventh career double-double on Dec. 4 with a 14-point and 11-rebound effort against Appalachian State. The junior dished out four assists in the contest, bring her average to 2.5 assists per contest.
- Sydney Nunley put together a career weekend, pouring in a career-high 10 points versus UNC Greensboro, while grabbing career best 13 rebounds on Sunday at Appalachian State.
- In the matchup against Appalachian State; Walker, Worthy and Nunley finished with double-digit rebounds. The first time this season and the first since Feb. 13, 2016.
- Radford averages 40.3 rebounds, grabbing a total of 242 to rank fourth in the Big South.
- The Highlanders are holding opponents to only 34.2 rebounds per contest.
- Only six games into the 2016-17 season, Radford already sports one of the best defenses in the country. The Highlanders rank 14th nationally in field goal percentage defense (32.6) and 22nd in scoring defense (53.5).
- Head coach Mike McGuire enters the contest 17-19 against teams from North Carolina.
SCOUTING WESTERN CAROLINA
- Record: 3-7
- The Catamounts enter the game with a 2-3 record away from home and a 0-2 record against teams from the Big South (UNC Asheville, Campbell).
- Western Carolina will play six Big South all together with Gardner-Webb, High Point and Charleston Southern remaining on the docket.
- On Nov. 29, Western Carolina hosted their own Education Day, dropping a 50-48 overtime decision to Campbell.
- Entering the game as one of the best rebounding teams in the Southern Conference, Western Carolina has corralled 392 rebounds, which leads the conference and ranks 13th in the country.
- The Catamounts are averaging 39.2 rebounds per contest. Opponents hold a slight edge with 39.4 rebounds per game.
- Through 10 games, Western Carolina has pulled down 40-plus rebounds on five different occasions, including 48 in a 95-48 win over North Greenville on Nov. 20
- Sherae Bonner has been a rebounding machine through 10 games, totaling 109 rebounds, ranking second in the nation.
- Bonner stands in sixth place with 8.4 defensive rebounds per game and 14th with 10.9 rebounds per game.
- The junior is the only player averaging a double-double in the SoCon, chipping in 10.9 points per game.
- Raziyah Farrington paces the team with 11.5 points per contest, starting in only five games.
- Farrington is shooting a SoCon best 55.6 percent from behind the arch.
- Western Carolina is 137 of 181 from the free throw this season for a 75.7 free throw percentage.
- The Catamounts 137 made free throws ranks 11th nationally, while ranking 30th in free throw percentage.
